5Leap of faith
By D. Esser
In the intrest of full disclosure, i was not asked to review this product and i purchased it from the manufacturer direct as i had a lot of questions answered online and i felt the guy deserved the commission. It is difficult to buy this product untested because while they will take it back, it will be difficult to return in orginal packing, costly to ship, and this thing is heavy to move.
My experience has been great. I was looking at another online only trainer and could not get through a session with anyone. The waits for online help were crazy and i figure if i can't get help taking my cash what happens if i NEED help with the product. So Yowza won the day with great online customer service. I was very nervous about this purchase.
The thing was shipped and arrived in Chicago in a matter of days. If you are at all slight please spend the extra benjamin and get in room delivery. This thing going up stairs or down will be a bear. I am a ddiy(don't do it yourselfer) but i was able to assemble this thing, IKEA directions and all. Again because this is a sturdy piece of machinery, there are one or two spots where some strength and a second set of hands do come in very handy. If you are older or again pretty slight, spend the $ and have it assembled.
The handle bar swing vs the standard pole swing is no big deal. It really has zero learning curve and i am not a poster boy for coordination monthly. Now as i am just resuming my workout routine i am on very low resistance and not a ton of incline. That having been said i feel about as much core burn as i do picking up the twinkee(RIP)and remote that i dropped (i also count that as a crunch). I do think the movement does engage the core to some degree and when the intensity increases i do expect some advantage with this machine. If an elliptical is going to work the abs this one is probably a good choice.
The foot pedals are padded to the point where you could workout in barefeet. The thing makes zero noise other than my sneeker squeak. Smooth as a babies behind. Changes in incline are noticed only in the intensity level.
I have only used this for a whopping 9 workouts but so far, so very good.
I wrote this only because i struggled with my decsion to buy online, sight unseen. Early in the ballgame but i honestly do not have any complaints at this stage. I will try to update a couple of months and many workouts from now

UPDATE: Just over a month now and i am using it on average 45 minutes per day 5 days a week. there is a kind of thump sound from the rear (the machines, not mine) it isn't real loud and in no way do you feel anything while working out. Still liking it and using more of the programs maybe i would go to 4 stars now that it isn't perfect but it is still working fine...i will update again as needed or in another month or two

5Great machine
By L. Panesi
I do not work for, or am I affiliated with Yowza.

I've used this model for two weeks. I bought it from the manufacturer. I had previously owned to Captiva model. I had that model for three years and liked it. I decided to upgrade to a newer model. After studying all of the different ellipticals out there I decided to stay with Yowza. The two main reason were the stride length and incline. I couldn't find any that had more than a 22 inch stride. The Islamorada has 30 inches. The highest incline I could find was 40 degrees. The Islamorada has 60 degrees.

The first time I used it I was blown away. The first thing I noticed were the handle bars. Much nicer than the Captiva. The next I noticed was the incline. 60 degrees is incredible. I felt leg muscles that I never felt before. It seemed as though my knees were up near my chin. 60 degrees is a big difference from 40 degrees.

A feature that I love is the egg shaped grips on the handle bars. This is a tremendous feature. I find that I use these grips about 75% of the time. They are very comfortable and help with the workout.

It used to be a chore to get on my elliptical. I never loved working out. It was a struggle to do 30 minutes. With the Islamorada I do one hour every day. I don't know how to explain it except that it now seems more enjoyable to use. I actually look forward to working out. One of the reasons I believe is because of the new handle bars; especially the egg shaped grips.

The machine is extremely quiet and very smooth. I can barely hear it. The foot pedals are so soft that you could actually workout without shoes.

The LED console gives you calories burned, time (up or down) distance and RPM. The only thing I would improve on would be a little more color on the console.

Yowza's customer service is the best that I have ever seen with any company. These people will bend over backward to accommodate you. They answer the phone right away and you can talk to a technician at any time. Example, I broke a part on my Captiva. It was my fault. They sent me the part at no cost then they called me three days later to see if I received it.

I really think that you will love the Islamorada. It is a great value considering that many top model ellipticals range between $3,500-$5,500.

4YOWZA Eliptical review
By John D. Crossen
I really like my new Yowza. Assembley wasn't bad at all and the fit and finish of everything is pretty nice. Had some loosening up of bolts after some use, but that is to be expected. Overall it was a good purchase. My only issue was not reecieving the complimentary mat to go under the machine to protect the floor offered by the factory? Seems as though if I had bought it directly from them I would have recieved it?
It would be nice to have.
